TORRES DE QUART MUSEUM OF LOCKSMITHERY
Modification of the former city gate into a museum for locksmithery, Valencia, Spain
Competition: 1st prize, May 1996 | Completion: in 1997 | Client: Municipality of Valencia | Building Contructor: Empty S.L. | Costs: 80.000 Euro | Surface: 160 qm | Collaborators: Pedro Morales
The medieval gate of Valencia was rebuilt in a museum for castles and iron work. The extreme massiveness of the ancient walls contrast the delicate display cabinets and subtle light fixtures. The exhibits fit naturally in the interplay between the gravity and lightness of the construction materials.
